Russian Jewish businessman wanted
(JTA) -- Russian prosecutors issued an arrest warrant for a Jewish businessman who has been active in the
country's leading Jewish group.
The warrant was issued this week for Igor Linshitz, president of Neftyanoi Bank, who is being incriminated in “illegal banking operations.” Prosecutors said the banker is suspected of receiving “illegal income” equivalent to more than $2 billion.
Linshitz has been a member of the Russian Jewish Congress board since the group’s founding in 1996. The group has not commented on the development.
