Attempt To Sell 16th Century Torah Stopped In Moscow

MOSCOW -  (Interfax) An attempt to sell a 16th century Torah written on ox skins has been stopped in Moscow.

The Russian Interior Ministry's Anti-Organized Crime Department told Interfax on Tuesday that two natives of Tajikistan tried to sell this rare artifact for $450,000. The item was presumably taken from one of the CIS countries unlawfully. Experts estimate the rarity's cost at around $600,000. The traders were arrested and the Torah was confiscated.
