Death of Ida Milgrom

NCSJ regrets to report the passing of Ida Milgrom, mother of Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Natan Sharansky, this morning in Jerusalem. 

Mrs. Milgrom was born near Odessa, Ukraine.  She and her daughter-in-law, Avital Sharansky, fought for Mr. Sharansky’s freedom throughout his trial and 12-year imprisonment by the Soviet authorities. 

Following Natan Sharansky’s release from prison, the Soviet authorities granted exit visas to Mrs. Milgrom and her older son Leonid and his family, and they made aliyah to Israel.  Mrs. Milgrom resided in Jerusalem until her death. 

May her family be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
