June
4, 2003 – NCSJ welcomed today’s announcement that Rudolph W.
Giuliani, former Mayor of New York City, will head the official U.S.
delegation to this month’s Conference on Anti-Semitism, being convened
in Vienna by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
“We
are very pleased that Mayor Giuliani will lead the U.S. delegation to
this historic conference, not only because of his personal commitment
and record of leadership but because his selection demonstrates the high
priority which the United States Government assigns to the issue and to
the OSCE as a mechanism for sustained coordination to combat
anti-Semitism,” said Dr. Robert J. Meth, NCSJ Chairman, who will be
participating in the Vienna conference.
“Mayor
Giuliani will provide strong and credible leadership in Vienna,
especially given his distinguished record of public service,” said
Mark B. Levin, NCSJ Executive Director, who will be participating as a
Public Member of the U.S. delegation in Vienna.
“As a former United States Attorney, he has experience in
prosecution, law enforcement, and judicial mechanisms.
As the former Mayor of New York City, he led millions through the
catastrophe of September 11 and taught us how one of the world’s most
ethnically and religiously diverse societies responds constructively to
the evils of terror and bigotry.”
