Vladimir Putin Sends Condolences to U.S. President

Vladimir Putin has sent a telegram to U.S. President George W. Bush, in which he offered his condolences in connection with the terrorist acts in the United States.

The telegram, which has been made available to
RIA-Novosti, says the following:

"Dear George,

I am deeply shocked by reports of the tragic events that have taken place today on
the territory of the United States. We are indignant and outraged by the series of
terrorist acts directed against innocent people.

"Please, convey our most sincere condolences to relatives of the victims of this
tragedy and also to all those affected and the entire American people. We understand
your grief and pain only too well. Russians know the horrors of terror from their own
experience.

"There is no doubt that such inhuman acts must not go unpunished. The entire
international community must unite in the struggle with terrorism."
