Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan
to the United States of America

September 12, 2001

On behalf of the Government and the Embassy of Uzbekistan, and in memory of the victims of the terrorist attacks in New York City, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania, I would like to express our profound sorrow and sympathy to you and the people of the United States.

Our hearts go out to the victims of these horrible inhuman acts and to their families and friends.

Words cannot express the sorrow that is felt in everyone’s hearts and nothing can bring back those who perished, but I think they would look back with pride on seeing how the sympathy and concern for them and solidarity brought millions of people throughout the world together. This is a time for mourning for all of us.

Shavkat Khamrakulov
Ambassador

Jewish Center of Kazakhstan

September 12, 2001

On behalf of all Jewish communities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Jewish Center “Chabad Lubavich” and the Jewish Congress of Kazakhstan would like to pay their respects to you. We would like to present our sincere condolences in connection with the tragedy that happened in your country. It is a tragedy for the world, all human beings and a challenge to the whole of democratic society. Jewish people understand what explosions, crashes and human victims mean better than anybody else.  We mourn with the peoples of America, and in all synagogues of the Republic of Kazakhstan we pray for the people who were tragically killed and pray for the injured to be healthy. We fully support your grief and we are with you during these days.

On 17th September, after the sunset, we will celebrate the 5762nd New Year of the world creation. G-d resolves the fortune of the world as well as individuals during these days. Repentance, prayers and charity cancel the drastic sentence. As the prayers say: “…today is the beginning of the New Year – it is a day when G-d renews the universe, the memory of the first day of creation…and the decision will be made for each country during these days: where a war will be held, where peace will be kept, which one will starve and which one will have plenty, the Most High makes his decisions during these days.” We’ll pray for peace for our long-suffering world, to let useless wars on our planet stop in the New Year.

On the eve of the coming holiday Rosh-Hashanah, the Kazakhstan Jewish Center “Chabad Lubavich” and the Jewish Congress of Kazakhstan send you congratulations for the New Year on behalf of all Jewish Communities of Kazakhstan.

G-d grant you happiness and prosperity.

G-d grant that your dreams come true.

Sincerely Yours,

Rabbi Yeshaya Cohen
Chief Rabbi of the Republic of Kazakhstan

Josef Zissels

September 14, 2001

Dear Friends:

We are deeply impressed with whole world by the awful and severe attacks on USA cities. As well as you, we consider it not just a terrorist action of fanatics' group, but as actual announcement of war to the civilized world from the part of those black forces, which aspire to grasp authority on the planet and to return it in most terrible Middle Ages.

Grieving about victims of the terrible action and expressing the condolences to the people, we express hope, that happened would rally all civilized world. So, it will be able to give the worthy answer to those, who encroached on Mankind.

Cordially,

Josef Zissels
Chairman of Vaad of Ukraine

Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar

Erev Rosh Hashana 5762
September 17, 2001

It is with an aching heart and eyes clouded with tears that I write to all of you in the Jewish community in the United States during the Days of Awe that are upon us. Mere words are not sufficient to express the deep sorrow and pain that all of us in the Jewish community of Russia feel for the tragic and unspeakable terror that has blackened your lives in recent days.

On behalf of all the Jews of Russia I want to send you our deepest sympathy, our love and our compassion. May the searing pain of loss that so many of you have so tragically suffered ease with time and may the memories of your loved ones remain within your hearts to bring you consolation. May you be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem and may the future bring with it no more pain or sorrow.

It is our prayer that the New Year 5762 that is upon us will bring with it a new beginning for our wolrd. We pray that we shall all be inscribed in the Book of Life for a year filled with sweetness, with peace, with good health, with safety, with unity and love. L'Shanah Tovah.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of
the Republic of Belarus

On the threshold of the imminent retribution action by the United States against the persons responsible for the inhuman acts of terror occurred in New York City and Washington, DC, on September 11, 2001, the Government of the Republic of Belarus declares its strong support of the coordinated efforts of the international community to fight against terrorism and to extermination of the acts of terror.

The Republic of Belarus has never granted and will never grant financial assistance, information or asylum to the terrorists, it won’t provide organized support to them. The Republic of Belarus will cooperate actively with all interested states in an effort to bring the organizers and inspirers of the acts of terror to justice.

The Republic of Belarus comes out in favor of a voluntary adoption of a codex of the counteraction against terrorism by all countries in the world. The Republic of Belarus considers that effective fight against one of the most dangerous threats for the human civilization in the 21st century is only possible on conditions of unification of political will and resources by the states of the world. Each country in spite of its level of development, economic and military potential, cultural and religious peculiarities is able to make its important contribution to gain a total victory of the world community over terrorism.

As one of the countries mostly affected by horror and hardship of the last world war, the Republic of Belarus supports the position shared by many countries in the world that it is unacceptable to lay the blame and responsibility of some individuals and groups of people on entire nations and states. Well-considered and self-restrained approach to the use of military power will be regarded as an evidence of realization by the states that seek to combat firmly against terrorism of their responsibility to save the global peace and stability, to prevent new world war.

Russian Jewish Congress Letter to President Bush

Dear Mr. President,

With a feeling of horror we learned about the tragedy which took place in your country. We are bringing our deepest condolences to the families of those who have suffered. International terrorism intimated an open war against the whole mankind. For the first time since World War II our world faced up to the problem of mutual defense.

The Russian Jewish Congress is calling for the whole world to join efforts for preventing such anti-human acts in the future and to fight the world terror.

Leonid B. Nevzlin
President
