Vladimir Slutsker elected leader of Russian Jewish Congress
MOSCOW - (Interfax) - Federation Council member Vladimir Slutsker was elected on Tuesday evening as president of the Russian Jewish Congress, a charity whose declared purpose is to revive Jewish lifestyles in Russia.
Slutsker, who represents the Cabinet of the Russian region of Chuvashia in the Federation Council, replaces as Congress president Yevgeny Satanovsky, who resigned earlier on Tuesday.
A Congress spokesman said the reason for the replacement were new tasks facing the charity.
