NCSJ Meets With Estonian Prime Minister
Prime Minister voices strong support for the Estonian Jewish community
WASHINGTON—NCSJ leadership and representatives of member and partner agencies met today with
Estonian Prime Minister Andrus Ansip at NCSJ's offices in Washington. The agenda included the Jewish community in Estonia, the Estonian-Russian relationship, the Middle East peace process, and Estonia's relationship with the United States.
Prime Minister Ansip expressed his support of the Jewish community in Estonia and said he was committed to
"keep[ing] Estonia a good living place for Jews and all people." He spoke about the government's financial contribution towards the renovation of the Jewish Day School in Tallinn and the dedication of a new synagogue in Tallinn in May, earlier this year. NCSJ leadership attended the dedication during their mission to the region.
In addition to NCSJ leadership, representatives from AIPAC, B'nai B'rith International, Chabad Lubavitch and the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum attended the meeting.
