Board of Governors Meeting - 12.07.2010

Chairman Richard Stone opened the December 7, 2010 NCSJ Annual Board of Governors meeting in Washington, D.C., welcoming Board members, ambassadors, diplomats and other guests.		Michael McFaul, Senior Director for Russian Affairs at the National Security Council U.S.-Russia bilateral relationship.
NCSJ presented its "Torch of Liberty" award to the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe (U.S. Helsinki Commission).  Co-Chairman U.S. Congressman Alcee L. Hastings, pictured here with NCSJ President Alexander Smukler, accepted the award on the Commission's behalf.		Rabbi Andrew Baker, Personal Representative on Combating Anti-Semitism to the Chair-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe discussed anti-Semitism in Europe and the OSCE region.
NCSJ Vice President Rabbi David Hill spoke about his many years of service as part of NCSJ's Board of Governors. In 2011, NCSJ will present Rabbi Hill will be the first recipient of an NCSJ award, named in his honor, recognizing the service of lay leaders in NCSJ.		Representatives from the Greensboro, North Carolina Jewish Federation discussed their sister-city partnership with the city of Beltsy, Moldova. Representatives from the Boston, Massachusetts Jewish Community Relations Council discussed their sister-city partnership with the city of Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine. Pictured here with NCSJ Vice-President Dr. Judith Wolf (center) and Ukrainian Ambassador Oleksandr Motsyk (2nd from left).		NCSJ Executive Director Mark Levin discussed the Jackson-Vanik Amendment, and a December 10 event to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the daily vigil that protested for Soviet Jewry outside the Soviet Embassy.
