Board of Governors Meeting - 12.08.2009

Summary:

Chairman Richard Stone opened the December 8, 2009 NCSJ Annual Board of Governors meeting in Washington, D.C., welcoming Board members, ambassadors, diplomats and other guests.		Keynote speaker Howard T. Solomon, Director for Russian Affairs at the National Security Council, discussed the U.S.-Russia bilateral relationship.
Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United States Erlan Irdrissov discussed his country's 2010 chairing of the OSCE and interethnic relations.		David J. Kramer, Senior Transatlantic Fellow at The German Marshall Fund discussed Ukraine's January elections and the U.S.-Russia "reset."
Anne Molloy, Chair of the World Union for Progressive Judaism's FSU Committee and NCSJ Board of Governors member talked about the October opening of a new Progressive synagogue in Moscow.		Evan Malnik, a member of NCSJ's Board of Governors discussed his efforts to restore the Jewish cemetery in his father's birthplace of Kaunas, Lithuania.
Lesley Weiss, Director of Community Services and Cultural Affairs, talked about the October 2009 NCSJ Student Advocacy Program in Washington, D.C. (see also: full report).		October 2009 student participant Joshua Cook (American University '10) gave an informative and emotional description of his experience.
Rabbi Alexander Kaller, head of the Chabad Russian Center of South Florida, spoke about his efforts in Miami to engage Russian émigrés.		NCSJ President Sasha Smukler (right) congratulated Chairman Richard Stone at the conclusion of a successful meeting.
