Biography
- Sarah E. Hutchison
| In
her capacity
as NewsWatch Editor and Program Assistant, Sarah Hutchison supports the community relations work of
NCSJ, researching and reporting on
regional developments, producing publications, maintaining the NCSJ
Web site
and editing the NCSJ Country
Reports. She also helps coordinate NCSJ's Kehilla
Projects and other community-based initiatives, and organizes and
staffs events.

Sarah is from Richmond, Virginia, and
graduated, as a Monroe Scholar, cum laude with a B.A. in English and a
minor in Russian language and literature from The College of William and
Mary. She spent her junior year abroad at the University
of St. Andrews in Scotland.
Sarah
has traveled extensively in Western Europe and the FSU, having participated in student exchanges to
Latvia and
St.
Petersburg, Russia, in 1995. Following her year abroad, Sarah won a Charles Center Summer
Scholarship in order to volunteer in the restoration of the Pecherska
Lavra (Caves Monastery) in Kyiv, Ukraine, as well as of an economics
institute in Moscow.

Reflecting
her strong interest in design, Sarah worked as a graphics editor on William and Mary's student paper,
the Flat Hat, and drew graphics for the Web site of a
Richmond “dot com.”
During
college, she tutored
English as a Second Language with the Rita Welsh Adult Skills Center and
the James City County Public Library. Sarah also volunteered at
Avalon Crisis Center for Women and Children in Williamsburg, VA.
In
addition to English, she speaks French and Russian.
