Ms.
Israel serves as Treasurer of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES),
and has either observed or worked as an expert for
elections in more than a dozen countries, including Armenia,
Azerbaijan, Georgia,
and Russia. She also served as Senior
Election Officer for the first post-war Bosnian election, seconded by
the U.S. State Department to the
Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
She is Treasurer and a Director of Bosnian
Handicrafts, a non-profit that generates work for Bosnian war
widows.
As
a professional political consultant, Ms. Israel formerly served as
President and CEO of Politics, Inc., and as Senior Vice President and
Director of the Kamber Group. She
served in senior capacities in the U.S. presidential campaigns of Vice
President Hubert
H. Humphrey, and Senators Birch
Bayh, Henry
M. Jackson, and Edward M.
Kennedy. She has also held leadership positions in the Democratic
National Committee.
