Biography - Howard E. Sachs

 

 

 

Howard E. Sachs, former President of NCSJ, has been involved in efforts on behalf of Soviet Jewry and Jews of the former Soviet Union for many years.  He served as the Atlanta Coordinator for the 1987 Freedom March, as Co-Chair of Operation Exodus in Atlanta, and as a member of the UJA Operation Exodus II Committee. He has been active in NCSJ leadership, serving previously as Treasurer and Vice-Chairman.  

Howard has been a board member of the American Jewish Committee, Jewish National Fund, the Jewish Home in Atlanta, and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Endowment Committee of Ahavath Achim Synagogue in Atlanta, Georgia.

Howard Sachs was born in Paterson, New Jersey. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Penn State University and a Masters of Business Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Howard is a Certified Public Accountant and serves as President of a number of companies in the textile and restaurant industries.  He has also served on the boards of several public and private companies. Howard is married to Kathy Tucker Sachs and has three sons, two daughters-in-law, and one granddaughter.
