Biography - David S. Shulman

In his capacity as Program Assistant, David Shulman supports the governmental relations work of NCSJ, tracking legislation, researching and reporting on regional developments, drafting policy documents, and producing publications. He attends Congressional hearings and other briefings, and organizes and staffs events. As Editor of NewsWatch, David writes articles and composes NCSJ's bimonthly newsletter.

David formerly worked for U.S. Representative Benjamin L. Cardin (D-MD) as a staff assistant, with legislative responsibilities for defense, veterans affairs, and crime prevention. 

He has interned at the Washington offices of the American Jewish Committee and the Anti-Defamation League, working on local as well as national projects.

David holds a B.A. cum laude in political science from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, one of the nation's top five liberal arts colleges.  While at Carleton, he served as co-president of the Jewish student association, coordinating holiday celebrations and interfaith community gatherings, and managing the Jewish Interests house.

David maintains a strong interest in Maryland electoral politics.  In June 2002, David participated in Birthright Israel.
