Biography - Judy Turkeltaub

 

 


Judy Turkeltaub with The Honorable Newt Gingrich

As Program Assistant and translator for NCSJ, Judy Turkeltaub coordinates communication with representatives and leadership of the Jewish communities in the former Soviet Union, provides simultaneous and consecutive interpreting and translation of documents, and manages office procedures. She holds advanced university diplomas in linguistics and education.

Prior to arriving in the United States in May 1989, Judy worked for 25 years as a senior research associate in the International Department of the Scientific-Research Institute of the All-Union  Committee of Standards in Moscow, where she authored 71 journal articles on international terminology.  She also co-authored the 15-language Vocabulary of the European Organization for Quality Control and International Electro-Technical Vocabulary. Under contracts with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and other institutions, she translated scientific papers and articles in a variety of scientific fields as well as fiction.

Before coming to NCSJ, Judy worked for the Jewish Social Service Agency's Newcomer Resettlement Program, and she has worked under contract as a translator for the U.S. Department of State.
